Taito revived the Atari "Breakout" brand in a big way in 1986. That was when Arkanoid reached arcades and swept across Japan and the USA like brushfire. The game's gist is this: Players control a paddle which bats a ball which in turn smacks into colored bricks above. The aim of the game is to clear the bricks on each stage with the ultimate goal of reaching and destroying an entity known as DOH.

Arkanoid DS [No Paddle Controller] - New, In Stock

If you don't need a paddle controller to play Arkanoid and you're perfectly content with using the D-pad or the stylus, this one's for you. If you ever decide that a paddle controller would make your life easier, you always have that option sometime down the road.

Power Pro Kun Pocket 10 - New Import, In Stock

Konami's flagship baseball franchise has weathered the years and the evolution of console technology without much change or deviation from its basic formula. This changes with Power Pro Kun Pocket 10 for the Nintendo DS where the graphics deviate from the bitmaps of the past to 3D polygons for both the stadium and the players.

The batters and pitchers still sport oversized noggins but that's the trademark look and feel of the Power Pro series which won't ever change. In addition to single-player game modes, there's also a Wi-Fi mode where two players can link up and enjoy a head-to-head game of the national pastime. A Story Mode puts players in the shoes of a high school baseball player and 10 mini-games are playable.

Chronicle of Dungeon Maker II - New Import, In Stock

Most adventure games send players into pre-built dungeons where monsters are battled and treasure chests are jostled open. Global A's Chronicle of Dungeon Maker II twists it all around and presents a game that's somewhat reminiscent of Game Arts' Chaos Seed (Sega Saturn, 1997) where the player builds dungeons from scratch in addition to spelunking within them. As a master architect and builder, the player erects the labyrinthine corridors of an underground dungeon and subsequently waits at least a night for it to be populated with monsters. Since beastly creatures are naturally attracted to dank and well designed dungeons, luring them doesn't take much effort. Once they're in and roaming through the halls, venture into your own dungeon to attack and destroy the monsters to abscond their treasures.

Personal dungeons may be traded with other players through ad hoc mode and the game features a simple attack scheme to send a sword swinging and magic blazing. When visiting a dungeon, players may choose the type of equipment and weapons to bring which affects the performance in battle. Traps may also be set to even out the odds against groups of monsters. As the fame of a builder grows, town folk will visit him and request certain items where the task is to design a dungeon that will attract the type of monster that would likely carry such an item. Creatures that venture into the dungeons range from feral wolves to massive dragons. The game features over 800 items that may be used and equipped such as suits of armor, gauntlets, leggings, and helms.

Minna no Golf Portable 2 - New Import, Restock Monday

The four Minna no Jou games that were released earlier this year in quick succession were mere morsels and appetizers leading up to the main course. Sony's proper sequel to the original Minna no Golf Portable game ships today in Japan and the world of virtual golfing is all the better for it.

The game follows the gaming conventions of previous releases in the MinGol series and old hands will find it familiar and easy to get into. The characters look the same, the courses are expansive, and the play mechanics are tried and true. The hallmark of the series has been its simple and friendly interface as well as its no-nonsense gameplay. Check the wind, line up your sights, and swing away by tapping thrice on the "O" button. If you hit the ball well, you'll know it immediately by the rainbow-colored "Nice Shot!" that pops up on the screen. MinGol Portable 2 features 12 courses, 20 characters to use, and a wireless online mode so everyone (well, sixteen simultaneous users) can link up and enjoy a tourney together.

At the outset of the action, only two characters are available to select as your onscreen golfer - a feathery haired lad and a blonde-haired girl. The boy has more power but the girl has more spin and sidespin. The other roster entrants are all locked behind question marks. The first course is a PAR4 which is 366y from your vantage point to the hole. If you're able to hit PAR or better, the golfer avatar cheers but if you're only able to muster a bogey, he'll sit on the grass in a dejected fit of despair.

Yuusha no Kuse ni Namaikida - New Import, Partial Shipment

No one likes a monster. Except maybe the monster's mom. The operative word in that last sentence is "maybe" because monsters are so disagreeable, unattractive, and overly surly that even its own mother may harbor animosity towards it.

In the case of Yuusha no Kuse ni Namaikida, you love the monster you've been charged with protecting. You love it so much that you'll do whatever it takes to keep it safe from valiant heroes who would wander into dungeons to capture it. To that end, your job is to design a dungeon and cultivate protectors in order to stop warriors and wizards who are on the hunt for your monster which just happens to look like the Devil himself.

At the outset of the game, a training mission hands you a pickaxe which is used to break blocks and create a dungeon. Press the "SQUARE" button to hack away at the blocks until discernible pathways are carved out on the screen. Some blocks will release green slimes which move around in drippy fashion and serve as a line of defense for your monster. The green slimes may also be used as fodder to enhance other subterranean creatures so that they'll evolve into stronger forms. The invading heroes will have to get past slimes, insects, and other beasts that are released from the blocks before they'll get a chance to kidnap your monster and bring it to the surface. However, if your dungeon and monster defenses aren't good enough, the hero bags the beast and it's game over.
